Increase in attendance was due to the strong performance of the group fitness program and kids’
playroom, along with the introduction of new activities to the centre including roller skating, the
Noosa Fit Kids program and pickleball. Some major event bookings throughout the year also
contributed to the high attendance numbers, including:
Noosa Alive! performance by Opera Australia.
Fight Night – pro boxing in Noosa.
The 2017 Contender of the Codes.
The Rotary Noosa Daybreak Bookfest fundraiser.
3. STAFFING
NLC has one full-time member of staff (NLC Coordinator) and approximately 15 casual staff.
The NLC Coordinator visited Sydney in April to attend the annual Filex fitness convention. This
proved to be a great opportunity to network with other industry professionals and gain a number
of programming ideas that will be further explored over time. Aside from this and the usual
operational staff matters there are no other staffing issues of significance to report.
4. SYSTEMS, PROCESSES AND OTHER MATTERS
Along with the new NLC website (www.noosaleisurecentre.com.au) launched in January, NLC
staff have been working hard on NLC’s social media presence with the NLC Facebook page
activated in February. Both projects form part of a suite of marketing initiatives to help drive
continued revenue and customer growth.
Trial of a new electronic time and attendance system (TANDA) began at the NLC throughout the
last quarter. Further testing and referencing with our current payroll system is still required,
however if successful, the system will improve rostering, reporting, budgeting and monitoring
practices and will reduce human error and provide further control of the facility’s largest expense
(wages).
Installation of a 32-kilowatt rooftop solar system began at the NLC in June (operational in July) as
part of the suite of Council’s ZEN works. The system comprises 108 highly efficient solar panels
and utilises a SolarEdge inverter. The SolarEdge inverter optimises the efficiency of the solar
panels and minimises the impact of any shading. The system is expected to generate 54,000
Kw/hr per annum, approximately 32% of the Centre’s annual electricity consumption.
