2.3 Groundwater
No seepage or ‘springs’ were observed in the vicinity of the proposed development area. No groundwater
was encountered in the Ground Drill boreholes with the soils being described as mostly ‘moist’.
Groundwater conditions may vary seasonally, and groundwater seepage could develop, particularly
following periods of prolonged or heavy rainfall.
2.4 Surface Drainage
Broadly, natural surface drainage follows the ground surface contours to the north and north-east. A small
pond was located to the north, well downslope of the proposed shed location. A spoon drain was installed
between the cut batter and the access driveway upslope of the proposed building platform, which diverts
upslope stormwater towards the west into a grated inlet, then under the driveway, discharging onto the fill
embankment (Ref. Text Figure 10). Erosion of the fill embankment was observed at this location.
