MCU200119 Notice of Submission
Attached to the e-mail Submission - Paul Martin - MCU200119.msg.
Notice of submission MCU20/0119 provides a cross-over access to the garage which limits the street parking associated with the property to 7.5 meters, sufficient for only one vehicle. Parking a vehicle on the drive, blocks access to and from the garage. I disagree with the statement made by Martoo Consulting in their Planning Report 2020 accompaniun MCU20/0119, which states on Page 12 of 15: “The development provides a total of two spaces on site with a tandem space provided in the driveway.” Experience over the early December, 2020 period, when the property was occupied for the first time, has seen only one vehicle housed in the garage and several on the street frontage. See image below: This highlights the impracticability of the statement made in the Martoo report. Short term visitors tend to take the easy option when parking as they may want frequent access to their vehicle. If the property is approved for short-term accommodation, there is every likelihood that visitor will place additional parking pressure on Nannygai Street, exacerbating vehicle related problems. Short-term holiday makers tend to bring additional items such as boats, kayaks, surfboards, bikes, scooters and the like. These may be fixed to the roof of a car or towed. This further encourages short-term holiday makers to park on the street rather and in a garage due to garage door height restrictions. Further, these items would ideally be stored in the ‘Bike parking’ had it not been modified to a ‘media room’. Noosa Council is urged to inspect the property to confirm the removal of bike parking from the approved building plan (MCU18/0021.01) and give major consideration to the parking issues associated with the property in the Impact Assessment for MCU20/0119. In Attachment 3, I have provided some images to support the points made in this submission which I urge Noosa Council to consider in the Impact Assessment. Noise: Short term holiday visitors tend to entertain. 1/20 Nannygai Street as featured on Noosa Luxury Holiday rentals with a swimming pool and BBQ, which are situated at the back of the house. The pool is adjoining the pool in the other duplex, 2/20 Nannygai Street and in close proximity to the duplex at 18 Nannygai Street. Noise from groups of up to 8 adults enjoying a holiday and utilising the outside entertainment area would impact adversely on the peace and quiet of neighbouring properties. This is not to suggest it would a ‘party house’ just the normal holiday conversation with laughter would impact on what is a very quiet area, particularly in the evenings.
