Report on Geotechnical Investigation
Proposed Commercial Development
11-19 Hilton Terrace, Tewantin

1.     Introduction

This report presents the results of a geotechnical investigation undertaken by Douglas Partners Pty
Ltd (DP) for a proposed commercial development at 11-19 Hilton Terrace, Tewantin.

The investigation was undertaken at the request of Martoo Consulting Pty Ltd following authorisation
to proceed received on 11 April 2017, and was undertaken in general accordance with DP’s proposal
SSC170103 dated 11 April 2017.

It is understood that the proposed development will consist of a single storey commercial building
                                                                                           2
surrounded by car parking and pavements. It is further understood that filling the 3,665 m site from
existing surface levels at around 1.3 mAHD up to design surface level of 2.5 mAHD is required.

The aim of the investigation was to assess the following:
    subsurface conditions including groundwater (if encountered);
 earthworks and site preparation, including excavatability, suitability of site soils for reuse,
     compaction standards;
    foundation soil reactivity in accordance with AS2870-2011 (Ref 1);
    suitable high level footing options and allowable bearing pressures;
    estimated settlements;
    suitable piled foundation types;
 ultimate end bearing and shaft adhesion pressures for axially loaded piles; and
 slab-on-ground and pavement subgrade design parameters.
 presence and severity of acid sulfate soils (ASS); and
 management and treatment of ASS (if any).

The investigation comprised the drilling of six bores to between 2 m and 6 m depth followed by
laboratory testing, engineering analysis and reporting. Details of the field work and laboratory testing
are presented in this report, together, with comments on the items listed above.

This report must be read in conjunction with the notes entitled “About This Report” in Appendix A
along with any other attached explanatory notes and should be kept in its entirety without separation of
individual pages or sections.
