2.       CUSTOMERS
NLC recorded 80,898 attendances for the year, up 10% on the previous year’s total of 73,470
(noting that 2019/20 was more heavily impacted by Covid-19 shutdowns and restrictions). Covid-
19 restrictions continue to have a large impact on NLC’s visitation numbers, particularly as limited
spectators are permitted to watch sporting groups and children’s activities. Additionally, a reduction
in venue hire bookings and café visits impacted the overall attendance figures for the year.
Although the era of hosting large events at NLC seems to have ended for now, it was pleasing to
see the return of Rotary Noosa Daybreak’s annual charity event, Bookfest, following the
cancellation of last year’s event due to Covid-19.

Tracking the cost per visit, both for operational cost (exclusive of depreciation and internal charges)
and total cost, can be an effective way to gauge efficiency of service delivery over time. The below
chart clearly shows the impact of reduced attendance on this metric over the past two Covid-
affected years.
