The building envelope, if identified at RaL stage, or 2. Where a building envelope is not identified, at all the lot boundaries. Compliance with Assessment Benchmark 4 can be attained where the proposed building envelope is sufficiently separated from the nearby forest hazard so that a radiant heat flux level at any point on the building envelope, does not exceed 29 kW/m². In this instance a specific building footprint is proposed hence the limit of the building footprint can be used in lieu of a building envelope. 4.2.3 Radiant Heat Flux Setbacks (APZ) Determination of the setbacks required to satisfy Assessment Benchmark 4 can be identified from the quantitative modelling output presented in Section 3.2 herein. The output results from Plate 8 & 9 can be used to identify the setback requirements to achieve the <29 kW/m² radiant heat flux SPP requirement. The required setbacks are shown in Table 4. Table 4 – Radiant Heat Flux Minimum Setbacks to secure <29kW/m² VHC Direction <29 kW/m² Setback* (m) and slope (º) 8.1 North, South, East (1) 17.9 9.1 West (1) 11.7 * Source – Flamesol Minimum Distance Calculator Plate 8 & 9 Table 4 identifies a minimum setback of 17.9m to the north, south, and east and 11.7m to the west is required to expose the building to <29 kW/m² radiant heat flux. It is therefore recommended the proposed works are provided with a minimum 17.9m setback to the VHC 8.1 vegetation to the north, south and east, and a minimum 11.7m setback to the VHC 9.1 to the west to achieve an acceptable level of risk under the SPP. The extent of the recommended APZ is detailed in plan BAL02 – Separation Requirements. © 2021 13
