The majority of the site is characterised by native vegetation dominated by open forest species. The site is zoned as Rural Residential within the Noosa Plan 2020. Plate 2 depicts the site’s extent and position in the landscape. Plate 2 – Site Context (Source: Nearmap 2021) 2.2 Topography The slope of the land is a major determinant of fire behaviour, particularly the slope of the land under vegetation that contributes to bushfire hazard. Fire burns faster as it travels up slope, via preheating of unburnt fuels ahead of the fire, increasing the rate of spread and fireline intensity. Conversely, fires move more slowly as they travel downslope. Fireline intensity (kW/m) is a function of the rate of spread (QFES 2019). The landform declines from west to east through the site with gradual slopes of approximately 1º recorded. The effective slopes are upslope to the west, across slope to the north and south and downslope to the east. Plate 3 depicts topography conditions within and adjacent to the site. © 2021 4
