Appendix B - Ecological Assessment Report
6.0 MITIGATION MEASURES
6.1 GENERAL
The following measures have been implemented or are recommended to mitigate against the impacts to
the identified ecological resources within the site.
6.2 FLORA SPECIES AND VEGETATION COMMUNITIES
To mitigate against the impact of clearing 2,900m2 of native vegetation, the vegetation to be retained will
have a rehabilitation program enacted to remove weed invasion and improve the ecological resilience of
the vegetation within the site. The following recommendations are provided to reduce environmental
impacts associated with the proposed development and to achieve compliance with the Biodiversity,
Waterways And Wetlands Overlay Code:
Protection of adjacent vegetation
The balance of vegetation within the site is to be retained and impacts avoided as a result of the proposed
clearing by the following:
All trees within the area to be cleared are to be felled into adjacent areas proposed to be cleared
or already cleared areas.
No vegetation is to be felled into adjacent areas of forest to be retained.
Appropriate measures are to be taken to mitigate disturbance of adjacent areas of vegetation by
machinery (e.g. installation of temporary exclusion fencing).
Erosion and sediment control
Appropriate erosion and sediment control measures be employed during site clearing and
earthworks to mitigate site risk
Control measures to be maintained for the duration of construction works.
Property maintenance
Weeds are to be managed to prevent spread during construction works.
6.3 FAUNA SPECIES
The impact of the development to fauna is proposed to be mitigated/minimised by engagement of a
suitably qualified fauna spotter/catcher during vegetation clearing works and enacting an ecological
rehabilitation program within the retained vegetation to enhance habitat quality and complexity.
Appropriate erosion and sediment control measures will be implemented during construction and
vegetation clearing stages of the development to limit sedimentation impacts to adjoining waterways.
