35. Having examined in detail at the RFI-identified obstructions to sight lines which were expected to impact the
safety of vehicles reversing from the western space, I do not consider there to be a safety issue beyond that
presently tolerated within the Cooroy town centre. I note that:
         a) The view of drivers of cars turning in to Opal Street from Elm Street is not obscured and drivers are
                    able to observe that:
                (i) the carriageway is clear and
(ii) whether cars are parked in the western space are reversing
         b) Drivers of cars parked in the western space are able to either:
                (i) observe cars turning into Opel Street form Elm Street unobscured, or
(ii) the couple of blind spots that do exist are able to be overcome by reversing a short distance
back onto the shoulder of the road without having to enter the main traffic stream.
          c) The speeds involved at the location are expected to be low (<50kph posted speed for the vehicles
involved) and if a crash did occur it would be expected to be of lower consequence.
36. I recommend that a lane line be painted on the eastbound carriageway adjacent to the subject site to ensure
that vehicles entering Opal Street from Elm Street travel closer to the centreline than the outside edge of the
carriageway and therefore ensuring cars reversing from the western space have the maximum clearance to
      observe vehicles on Elm Street.

      Yours faithfully
