Kenlynn Castaways Beach BMP
Attached to the e-mail Request for Negotiated Decision Notice REC16/0015.
11.0 Summary The area of “hazard” faced by the proposed development is considerable, and the likelihood of wildfire is possible, or even likely. This Plan demonstrates compliance with legislative requirements of State and Local Government, and the BCA. This Plan recognises and protects as far as reasonably possible, the environmental values of the foredune complex. This BMP provides a site specific assessment, which demonstrates that lesser setbacks can be viable for this development, as long as they are maintained. By demonstrating that BAL 29 can be achieved, together with the other bushfire protection measures outlined in this Plan, the impact of the development can be minimized. Along with adequate water supply and emergency management arrangements, compliant construction under AS3959-2009 and APZs to reduce the exposure of life and property to bushfire, these combined measures assist prepare residents for the slim possibility of fire in the area. 12.0 References ABCB (2012), Building Code of Australia, Australian Building Codes Board, Canberra.
