Lot 7 on RP216403, Lot 394 on M371117, and Lot 650 on M37380 — 48-59 Kabi Road, Cootharaba

Melaleuca spp. but was dominated by Melaleuca quinquenervia (broad-leaved paperbark).

The mid-storey was characterised by mixed Acacia spp. and Glochidion sumatranum (cheese tree),
while the understorey contained Cordyline rubra (palm lily), Smilax australis (barbwire vine), Gahnia
aspera (sawsedge), Calamus muelleri (wait-a while vine) and scattered Lantana camara (lantana).

VHC 8.1 is attributed a potential combined surface fuel load of 31 t/ha and total fuel load of 35t/ha,
and is classified as Prone Type 1 (QFES, 2019). Plate 6 depicts typical conditions within VHC 8.1.

3.2.3 Vegetation Hazard Class 9.1 — Moist to dry eucalypt open forests on coastal lowlands
and ranges

Vegetation Hazard Class 9.1 (VHC 9.1) occurs in smaller units in the north- western site extent. This
VHC exhibits an average canopy height of 15-20m with Projective Foliage Canopy Cover (PFCC) of
10-30%.

The canopy exhibited a T1 and T2 canopy layer. The T1 canopy included Eucalyptus tereticornis
(Queensland blue gum) and the T2 canopy included Corymbia intermedia (pink bloodwood), Acacia
dissparima (hickory wattle), and Commersonia bartramia (brown kurrajong) with scattered Melaleuca
quinquenervia (broad-leaved paperbark).

The mid-storey was characterised by rejuvenating canopy species, Acacia spp., Casuarina glauca
(swamp sheoak), Glochidion sumatranum (cheese tree).

The understorey contained Gahnia aspera (sawsedge), Lomandra multiflora (club rush), Parsonsia
straminea (monkey rope), Imperata cylindrica (blady grass), Cordyline rubra (palm lily), and
Pteridium esculentum (bracken fern).

VHC 9.1 is attributed a potential combined surface fuel load of 21 t/ha and total fuel load of 24.2 t/ha,
and is classified as Prone Type 1 (QFES, 2019). Plate 7 depicts typical conditions within VHC 9.1.
