Bushfire Hazard Assessment & Management Plan v4 NCES REF: J001061 Lot 7 on RP216403, Lot 394 on M371117, and Lot 650 on M37380 — 48-59 Kabi Road, Cootharaba 3.2.4 Vegetation Hazard Class 22.1 — Melaleuca open forests on seasonally inundated lowland coastal swamps Vegetation Hazard Class 22.1 (VHC 22.1) is located in a small linear unit in the northwest site extent. The vegetation community exhibits an average canopy height of 12m. The unit exhibited a monoculture of Melaleuca quinquenervia (broad-leaved paperbark) at a thickness of 2-3 trees. The understorey contained unmanaged grass. VHC 22.1 is attributed a potential combined surface fuel load of 23.4 t/ha and a potential total fuel load of 28.4 t/ha, and is classified as Prone Type 1 (QFES, 2019). Plate 5 depicts typical conditions within VHC 22.1. 3.2.5 Vegetation Hazard Class 24.1 — Acacia open forest on residuals Vegetation Hazard Class 24.1 (VHC 24.1) is located in a single unit in the northeast of the site. The community exhibits an average canopy height of 20m with crown cover of approximately 20-30%. The canopy exhibited a monoculture of Acacia disparrima (hickory wattle). The mid-storey was characterised by rejuvenating wattle, Glochidion ferdinandi (cheese tree), Flindersia schottiana (bumpy ash), Heptapleurum actinophyllum (umbrella tree), and Macaranga tanarius (macaranga). While the understorey was dominated by weed species Bidens Pilosa (cobblers pegs), Lantana camara (lantana), and Ageratum houstonianum (blue billy goat weed), with Parsonsia straminea (monkey rope) also present. VHC 24.1 is attributed a potential combined surface fuel load of 9.5 t/ha and a potential total fuel load of 10.1 t/ha, and is classified as Prone Type 1 (QFES, 2019). Plate 9 depicts typical conditions within VHC 24.1. © 2024 14
