Garden Soil specification All soil types are specified in the soil specification section in this specification. All garden soil is to be consolidated yet not compacted. All soil is to be installed to heights which allow for settlement, so that at off-maintenance all surface levels are to those detailed in the documents. On-structure planters are to be free from any debris/rubble immediately prior to drainage and soil placement. Evenly grade between reduced levels i.e. (spot levels). Inside Planter Walls Wrap the waterproofing up the inside of the planter walls and/or and building façade. Use a protection board to protect the waterproofing membrane. Lay nonwoven, needle punched filter fabric to base and up the sides of the planter walls. Secure filter fabric between wall body and internal cladding (cladding to be min 150mm depth). If rendering is use apply 150mm wide steel flashing in the same colour as rendered finish to fix filter fabric to wall. Fix flashing through neoprene washer and seal flashing with flexible sealant on the top. Turf pattern / joints Lay a perimeter strip and then lay infill sods with staggered tightly butted joints. Dress joints and edges with soil (the same soil as used under turf) as required to prevent the turf drying and to provide a smooth transition to adjacent levels. Watering Water twice daily for the first week after laying to ensure rapid root establishment. Top Dressing Spread 10mm depth of medium washed river sand approximately 6 - 8 weeks after laying turf. Quality All turf must be AusGAP certified turf. URBIS URB-P0003847-000-SP.DOCX PAGE 41
