REPORT
The purpose of this report is to seek authority to proceed with the preferred tenderer for the
Electric Bus trial subject to a number of conditions.
1. Background
In 2014, Noosa Council and TransLink jointly appointed GHD Pty Ltd to undertake a pre-
feasibility study to examine the viability of introducing electric buses into the existing
TransLink route network. Sunbus route 627 (Tewantin – Sunshine Beach) was determined to
be the preferred route.
In July 2015 Patico Automotive Pty Ltd was selected for the trial.
The purpose of the electric bus trial is to provide Council and TransLink with data to allow a
comparison of the various economic and community benefits electric buses may provide to
that of the current diesel buses on an existing public transport route.
