choose to re-route using Pinaroo Way. Other traffic in the local area is unlikely to be impacted by the
provision of Pinaroo Way.
Holistically, the provision of Pinaroo Way is expected to reduce traffic volumes on Sunshine Beach
Road, Lanyana Way, Arcadia Street and Cooyar Street between Lanyana Way and Sunshine Beach
Road.
The provision of Pinaroo Way may result in an increase in traffic volumes along Noosa Drive between
Coral Tree Avenue and Sunshine Beach Road however this is expected to have negligible impacts
given the short distance and low speed environment of this road section. No other roads are expected
to be impacted by the provision of Pinaroo Way.
TTM’s Traffic Report assumes up to 50% of traffic on Lanyana Way may utilise Pinaroo Way. This
assumption is considered to be a conservative approach and was only used to gauge the capacity of
the Noosa Drive / Coral Tree Avenue / Pinaroo Way intersection. This percentage may be high
considering that traffic is only likely to re-route from Noosa Drive and Coral Tree Avenue, and the
utilisation of existing traffic to Pinaroo Way may actually be lower.
It is noted that the report did not remove any trips from the network to account for re-routing by drivers
and as such this assessment was considered very conservative.
The intersections assessed in this report are expected to operate suitably within the design horizon
(2026) under these conservative considerations. However, practically these intersections are likely to
operate better once trips removed from re-routing are considered.
15. Demonstrate the new road will not have any significant adverse impacts on overall
network operation (AIR Item 2)
As noted above, the provision of Pinaroo Way is only likely to increase trips on Noosa Drive between
Coral Tree Avenue and Sunshine Beach Road. The provision of Pinaroo Way will have a positive
impact some other roads in the local area through traffic re-routing.
The Noosa Drive / Coral Tree Avenue / Pinaroo Way intersection is expected to operate suitably in
terms of capacity, delays and queuing using conservative traffic volumes. Traffic volumes at the
Sunshine Beach Road / Noosa Drive / Grant Street intersection are generally expected to remain
unchanged (with the exception of background growth and development traffic) however the turn
movements at the intersection are expected to change. The change in turn movements at this
intersection is considered unlikely to have significant adverse impacts on the operation of the
intersection.
Noosa Drive between Coral Tree Avenue and Sunshine Beach Road is expected to carry higher
volumes due to the provision of Pinaroo Way and the construction of this development. These higher
traffic volumes however, are unlikely result in significant impacts on this road section as there are
existing treatments on this section of Noosa Drive (on street parking, pedestrian crossings, low speed
environment).
16. Provide a functional layout plan for the proposed link road and intersections and confirm
that the connection to Noosa Drive can be accommodated within the road reserve adjacent
to the existing roundabout (AIR Item 3)
The latest development plans show the proposed Pinaroo Way connection to the Noosa Drive / Coral
Tree Avenue roundabout. This plan shows that this connection is accommodated within the road
reserve.
