REPORT
This report provides Council with the necessary recommendations to enable it to adopt its
Operational Plan, 2017/18 Budget and Organisational Structure.
Resolutions to adopt Council’s annual budget have previously been reviewed by King and Co. to
ensure compliance with the relevant provisions of the Local Government Act and Local
Government Regulation.
The adoption of the Council’s 2017/18 Budget package is the second budget in this term of Council
and is the culmination of six months of hard work to ensure that we build on our strong financial
base.
I would also like to highlight the amount of work undertaken to prepare this budget by the Mayor,
Councillors and staff. Particular recognition should be provided to the Director Corporate Services
and his finance team for delivering a great budget process that will continue our financial
sustainability journey. In addition, our Managers have continued to embrace and develop our “build
from base” budgeting approach which ensures that there is a high degree of ownership of the final
budget which ensures that the delivery of our budget is smooth.
