To the extent that the impacts are unavoidable, an offset will also be provided for the clearing of koala habitat
trees in accordance with the Queensland Environmental Offset Policy 2014, which will also act to offset the
impacts of clearing on other MSES. Provision of an offset under the Environmental Offset Policy 2014 will also
compensate for local environmental impacts (matters of local environmental significance).
4.11 Bushfire Management
A Bushfire Assessment Report has been prepared by Cardno (refer to Appendix H to this report) for the
proposed development, which considers the likely bushfire risk to the proposed expansion and the adequacy
of bushfire mitigation measures.
The assessment determines that the proposed expansion provides adequate mitigation and management of
bushfire hazards through building setbacks, provision of a reticulated water supply, expansion of the internal
road network, provision of fire breaks and ongoing maintenance.
The assessment concludes that the proposed development would not place human life or property at an
unacceptable level of risk with respect to bushfire events and, as a result of the vegetation clearing proposed,
will reduce the overall bushfire hazard level of the locality.
