7.        Coastal Protection Works
In this instance the provision of coastal protection works (e.g. rock revetment) within the property to protect
development against coastal hazards is not considered a viable option due to the height of the land. A rock
revetment would need to be constructed at a significant depth below the existing ground level that would
result in significant earthworks and impact to surrounding dune vegetation.

To ensure the proposed house and pool can withstand future potential erosion events and not adversely
impact on coastal processes it is recommended that a piled foundation be included in the design sufficient
to withstand erosion and maintain the stability of the building for the geotechnical conditions at the site.

The piled foundation should be prepared by a geotechnical engineer considering the theoretical beach
profile associated with the erosion prone area assessment presented in this report and slope stability.
