SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 OCTOBER 2017

4.     Passenger Assistant

It is proposed that one Sunbus passenger assistant be located at the Noosa Heads Bus Station
from 9.30am to 4.10pm on the following dates:
 Saturday, 30 December 2017;
 Saturday, 31 December 2017;
 Saturday, 31 March 2018; and
 Saturday, 7 April 2018.

These dates have been selected based on previous passenger data and days that are predicted
to be busiest.

The role of the passenger assistant is to:
   Coordinate movement of buses/passengers to avoid overcrowding;
   Offer assistance with routes, times and which side of the stop to wait at;
 Encourage passengers to complete the Free Holiday Buses survey; and
 Remind drivers to press buttons to record passenger data.

5.     Decals

In order to make the Free Holiday buses more identifiable, in particular the Peregian-Noosa
Heads temporary shuttle bus, decals could be installed on the bus/buses.

Estimated costs per Free Holiday Buses program:
 Develop artwork - approx. $500.
 Print and installation x 1 bus - approx. $2,370.
 Print and installation x 6 buses - approx. $12,000.

6. Noosa Heads Lions Park – car park
For many years, the Noosa Heads Lions Park has been converted into a paid car park during the
Christmas and Easter Free Holiday Buses programme. There has not been a fee increase since
its inception.
In order to discourage vehicles entering the Hastings Street precinct during the busy Christmas
and Easter holiday period it is proposed that the Noosa Heads Lions Park parking fee of $10 be
increased to $20 per day or part thereof (Bay Village parking fee is $8 per hour).

                                                                                       Page 5 of 84
