GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 18 SEPTEMBER 2017

Reputational

Local Competition – Council is providing a service (co-work/office space) that the private sector
also provides within the Shire. Council process and decision making has taken account of this
and Council’s investment and ongoing operation of the Peregian Beach Digital Hub facility is
focused on accelerating the growth and impact of the technology sector in the Shire. This
intervention is also in line with Council’s adopted direction to diversify the economy with a
renewed focus on high yielding employment.

Delivery on Economic Plan Outcomes

Non / under delivery of economic KPIs – The Management Agreement negotiated with the
service provider will include detailed targets linked to actions and outcomes listed in the Local
Economic Plan. These will include capacity building, business acceleration and job creation
targets. There is a risk that these targets are not achieved. This risk will be mitigated by the
inclusion of the requirement for the service provider to adopt a clear plan of action and report on
at least a quarterly basis. Open and regular communication will be a key risk mitigation
requirement.
