Fire Safety Strategy – Bushfire Fire Spread Prevention 100 Cooyar Street, Noosa Heads QLD 4567 Figure 5 Bushfire Intensity Classes Overlay Map Based on the above VHC a quantitative analysis has been undertaken by NCES to determine the radiant heat flux (RHF) the building is subject to using the different VHC and the principles of AS 3959. The results of this analysis determined that the building is subject to the following RHF: VEGETATION HAZARD RADIANT HEAT FLUX AREA OF SITE EXPOSED CLASS 22.1 (Sub Unit 1) 7.47 kW/m2 North of site 29.2 (Sub Unit 2) 13.47 kW/m2 South east of site 34.5 (Sub Unit 3) 12.89 kW/m 2 East of site Table 5 – Building occupancy and classification Using the above data NCES have determined the necessary distances from these VHC sub units in order to get the acceptance criteria of <10kW/m2. The following contour diagram shows the <10kW/m2 radiant heat flux exposure to the site. Using this figure to describe the amount of radiant heat exposure to the site we are able to determine the appropriate fire safety strategy for the development. The assessment developed by NCES has also determined the design parameters for a radiant heat battier fence to shield the potentially exposed south east and east. The extent of the shied is shown in the following diagram. The shield is 2.5 m in height and of non-combustible construction. P a g e 13 | 18 Pro Project Number: WBFE965-001-2023 Date: 22/03/2023
