Fauna Management Plan - 30 Pottery St, Pomona (2)
2.0 FAUNA HABITAT
2.1 GENERAL
One broad vegetation type occurs within the site which contains an Open Eucalypt forest with shrubby to
grassy understorey. The canopy has attained an average height of 30m and is dominated by a mix of
Eucalypts. Individual Eucalypt species dominance is localised throughout the vegetation unit, with
Eucalyptus acmenoides dominant within the eastern extent and E. pilularis dominant in the western
extent. Corymbia intermedia, Eucalyptus propinqua, and Syncarpia glomulifera occur as sub-dominant
species within the canopy. Canopy Cover is approximately 60% with average diameter at breast height
(DBH) of the canopy trees at approximately 300-500mm, with some mature E. pilularis individuals
attaining a DBH of >1000mm. The mid-storey within the unit is sparse and dominated by common open
forest species such as Petalostigma triloculare and Lophostemon confertus. The understorey is dominated
by a range of native grass and sedge species, with areas of localised dominance of native shrub species
and the exotic weed species Ochna serrulata. The site is mapped as containing Regional Ecosystem (RE)
12.9-10.17 which is described as Eucalyptus acmenoides, E. major, E. siderophloia +/- Corymbia citriodora
subsp. variegata open forest on sedimentary rocks. Plate 2 depicts typical conditions within the on-site
vegetation proposed to be cleared.
