Bushfire Hazard Assessment & Management Plan v4 NCES REF: J000841 Lot 4 on SP320405 – 7 Triller Court, Pomona 2 Site Description 2.1 General The site comprises an irregular shaped allotment located to the south of the Pomona town centre and has area of approximately 3.6ha. Existing low density residential allotments exist along Triller Court to the east, with Tuchekoi National Park adjoining the site’s north-western boundary. Vegetated rural properties adjoin the site’s southern boundary. The site is dominated by mown grass with mature trees located within the north-western site extent. The property contains an existing dwelling with associated infrastructure (sheds, carport etc.). The site is zoned as Low Density Residential in the eastern extent and Rural in the western extent under The Noosa Plan 2020. Plate 2 depicts the site’s position in the landscape and the extent of existing development. Plate 2 – Site Context (Source: Nearmap) 2.2 Topography The slope of the land is a major determinant of fire behaviour, particularly the slope of the land under vegetation that contributes to bushfire hazard. Fire burns faster as it travels up slope, via preheating of unburnt fuels ahead of the fire, increasing the rate of spread and fireline intensity. Conversely, fires move more slowly as they travel downslope. Fireline intensity (kW/m) is a function of the rate of spread (QFES 2019). The site is located on sloping undulating terrain with slopes of approximately 5 degrees. A broad ridgeline runs through the site on a roughly north-east to south west alignment. Slopes descend from the ridgeline in a northerly and southerly direction. The site reaches a topographic high of approximately 124m AHD in the south-west corner and declines towards the north-east to a topographic low of approximately 93m AHD. Plate 3 depicts topography conditions within and adjacent to the site. © 2023 5
