GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 12 SEPTEMBER 2022
The applicant subsequently submitted amended plans on 24 August 2022 (refer Attachment
1) reducing the building height from 12.15m to 12 metres and increasing the width of some
roof overhangs and balconies. The balconies were approved at 2.5 metres wide and are
now proposed at 1.5 metres wide. The roof on the northern building was approved ranging
from 2.5-4 metres wide and is now proposed at 1.86-3 metres. Although this is an
improvement to the plans reported to Council previously, it is noted that the widths of the
balconies and roof overhang are still less than that currently approved.
The proposed increase of height to 12 metres in a zone which seeks a maximum of 10 metres
will also dominate the existing skyline and the additional height and design change do not
result in an enhanced architectural outcome.
Although the officer’s recommendation has been amended to reflect the new plans as shown
in Attachment 1, the intent of the recommendation remains the same as that presented at
the Planning and Environment Committee on 12 July 2022.
