GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 12 SEPTEMBER 2022
There are various other CHAP implementation projects that have funding commitments, as
outlined in this report, including for beach access standards and sand transport modelling
investigations.
Funding has also been allocated for an integrated water quality monitoring program for the
Noosa Shire that will include ongoing monitoring for Burgess Creek in partnership with
Unitywater.
Risks & Opportunities
The coastal erosion risks and water quality management issues for Burgess Creek are being
actively managed and investigated across different areas of Council to ensure an informed
management approach, in close partnership with Unitywater. There are a range of complex
management issues that inter-relate that extend beyond the river mouth to various parts of
the catchment.
The Noosa Eastern Beaches Creeks High Risk Erosion Prioritisation Project currently being
scoped will provide an important opportunity to investigate and manage coastal erosion risks
more proactively at the creek mouth.
Development of Council’s Integrated Water Quality Monitoring Program and sharing of data
by Unitywater will allow Council to inform the public of recreational water quality conditions
more readily. This will also be an important input into ongoing total water cycle planning by
Council and Unitywater.
