EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Project Officer to the General Committee Meeting dated 13
March 2017 and:
A. Adopt the draft Transport Strategy 2017-2027, provided at Attachment 1 to the report; for the
purposes of community consultation, and
B. Amend the Transport Policy vision to “Noosa Shire enjoys an efficient, free flowing transport
system that enhances resident and visitor experiences”.
REPORT
The purpose of this report is to approve the draft Transport Strategy 2017-2027 in order to consult
with the community on the draft.
1. Background
In late 2015, independent consultants, Parsons Brinckerhoff, were engaged to provide advice
on contemporary global responses to transport challenges. They were also asked to provide
input into transport in Noosa - where we are now, where we want to be and how we might get
there.
Engagement with key stakeholders and the community took place in January 2016.
A second and larger phase of stakeholder and community engagement took place in May 2016.
Council adopted a Transport Policy in November 2016.
Transport Strategy workshops were held with Councillors in September 2016, January 2017
and February 2017.
Based on the work of Parsons Brinkerhoff, stakeholder & community feedback and Councillor
workshops, a draft Transport Strategy document has been developed which provides a
transport vision, key principles, challenges, desired outcomes and proposed priority actions.
