RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the PA to the CEO to the Planning & Organisation Committee
Meeting dated 9 December 2014 and:
A.                        Pursuant to Section 257(3)(b) of the Local Government Regulation 2012, resolve to hold its
                          Ordinary Meeting on:
                          1.   Thursday, 7 May 2015 at the Cooran Memorial School of Arts Hall, Cooran
                               commencing at 6pm; and
                          2.   Thursday, 19 November 2015 at The J, Noosa Junction commencing at 6pm.
B.                        Request the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that suitable advertising is undertaken to
                          promote these community based Council Meetings.



REPORT

In April 2014, Council agreed to a proposal by the CEO to hold two Ordinary Meetings of Council
per year offsite. The first of these community based meetings was held in late May at Pomona,
and the Council Meeting in November was held in Peregian Beach.

Both of these meetings provided an opportunity for the Mayor, Councillors, CEO and Leadership
Team to meet with community members prior to and following the meeting. This opportunity was
taken up by approximately 20 – 30 local residents at each locality.

To continue this practice in 2015, the following arrangements are proposed:

1. Ordinary Meeting, 7 May 2015 to be held at the Cooran Memorial School of Arts Hall, Cooran
   at 6pm;
2. Ordinary Meeting, 19 November 2015 to be held at The J, Noosa Junction at 6pm.

Both meetings will be preceded by an informal “meet and greet” at 5pm where local residents can
discuss issues with Council’s representatives. The meetings will also be followed by another
informal discussion opportunity.
