PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 9 DECEMBER 2014
Figure.2 Proposal Plan
2. SITE DETAILS
2.1. Background
There are no existing development approvals over the site.
The 2ha site is currently owned by the State Government and was previously used as a gravel
storage reserve. The applicant indicates that the site has not been used for this purpose for more
than 20 years and has substantially revegetated.
The State previously offered the land to Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) for potential acquisition.
SCC did not purchase the land, as it was considered that Cooroy was generally well catered for
in terms of community and recreation zoned land. Other development approvals for aged care
facilities in Cooroy are also understood to have influenced SCC’s decision.
It is also noted that, as part of the Revenue Share Policy for Local Government Operational Trust
Land, the land has been available for disposal since mid-2008 and the proceeds of the sale are
to be shared equally between the State and Council.
