3. EXECUTION OF WORK
3.1. SITE PRELIMINARY WORKS
Install anything required to complete the works including but not limited to:
• temporary Contractor's facilities;
• environmental protection;
• protection of work and making good;
• construction and tree protection zone fencing (1800mm high chain wire mesh fence panels on concrete
"feet"). Confirm if fencing has already been installed or is within the Builders scope;
• public safety measures and provision for vehicular and/or pedestrian traffic control around the site
(Confirm the extent required with the Builder).
3.2. DEMOLITION, PREPARATION, GROUNDWORKS
Demolition
Demolish and remove all items shown on the demolition plan to be removed. Retain and protect all items
noted to be retained and protected. Traffic sign to be removed accordance to traffic engineering
documentation. Tree removal accordance to tree removal plan (issued separately).
Grading
Cut and fill as required to complete the works. Assumption that civil earthworks will provide finished levels +/-
150mm from required landscape levels. Refer to Civil documents to confirm provided finished levels.
Remove spoil and excess fill from site.
3.3. EARTH WORKS
General
The Contractor will be required to achieve smooth even grading to landscape areas. The Contractor shall
allow to remove existing plant matter, debris, rubble or other loose materials likely to interfere with the new
work, and consolidate the filling to all resulting excavations. The Contractor is required to carry out final
trimming of the entire works of the grades. Any areas of discrepancy from the Drawings should be brought to
the attention of the Landscape Architect. Fine grading shall be undertaken with a tolerance of ± 25mm.
Spot levels take precedence over contour lines and ground profile lines.
Filling in layers approximately 150 mm thick compacted to 85% of the dry density ratio of the surrounding soil
as determined by AS 1289, to minimise slumping and further internal packing down. Corners and
intersections of planes shall be rounded gradual and curves generous. To grading from edgings, provide
horizontal shoulders, minimum width 500 mm, before any change of level.
Earth mounds
Form earth mounds in the positions and to the levels shown on the Drawings to the approval of the
Landscape Architect.
Planting Mounds
Planting mounds shall be formed from topsoil to the depths as required. The profile shall be such that the
placement of topsoil, soil mix and mulch shall bring the mounds to the finished levels shown on the drawings.
Slopes to mounds shall be no greater than 1:3 unless otherwise shown on the drawings. Ensure existing
ground levels in locations of mounds are deep ripped 150mm prior to formation of mounds.
Rake over all mounds for smooth profile.
Filling in layers approximately 150 mm thick compacted to 85% of the dry density ratio of the surrounding soil
as determined by AS 1289, to minimise slumping and further internal packing down. Corners and
