Comment: The proposed visitor accommodation provides an alternative accommodation experience and
visitor market for Noosaville. The development will offer accommodation and recreational facilities and is an
alternative experience to the existing hostel accommodation facilities located in the Shire.
The intention of the development is to offer a quality experience and to operate an environmentally sensitive
hostel. The site is well located within close proximity to outdoor recreation activities based along the Noosa
River, Noosa Northshore and Noosa Heads. The development will diversify the accommodation choices
available for Noosa visitors.
Presently there is approximately 600 hostel style accommodation beds within the Noosa region which Tourism
Noosa has advised operate with a 97% occupancy. The Noosaville backpackers in William street which has
approximately 90 beds is currently on the market for sale and it has been suggested the hostel use will cease
and the site will be redeveloped for Attached Dwellings. If this is to occur there will be a significant shortfall in
beds to meet the very strong hostel / adventure tourism market within Noosa.
