Previous Council Consideration
Ordinary Meeting, 21 December 2017, Item 7, Page 9
That Council note the report by the Governance Officer to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 12 December 2017 and:
A.       Pursuant to section 257 of the Local Government Act 2009, agree to delegate the powers
         of the Local Government to the Chief Executive Officer outlined in the Delegations of
         Authority provided at Attachment 1 with the exception of the powers relating to the
         compulsory acquisition of land pursuant to the Acquisition of Land Act 1967; and
B.       Pursuant to section 257 of the Local Government Act 2009, agree to delegate the powers
         of the Local Government to the Chief Executive Officer outlined in the Delegations of
         Authority provided at Attachment 2.

Not applicable.

Risks & Opportunities
If Council’s delegations are not up to date or officers operate outside of their delegated authority,
relevant decisions made and action taken may be considered unauthorised and subject to
challenge. This exposes Council to risk of complaints and legal action by third parties resulting in
unnecessary costs and reputational damage.
