Strategy now been appointed.

a workshop. These will be included in the budget adoption
papers.

2. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
As Council would be aware, KPIs were first developed for our organisation at the beginning of
2014/15. Approximately 30 management KPIs were developed and these are reviewed on a
monthly basis by Council’s Executive Team. Approximately 15 of those KPIs are reported to
Council on a quarterly basis. They are also reported to the Audit & Risk Committee in detail at
each Audit & Risk Committee meeting.
As far as the CEO is aware, we are one of the few Councils in Queensland to make this KPI
information available to the public via “non-confidential” reports. The KPIs are included in
Attachment 2.
The key issues arising from an assessment of the KPIs for the first quarter are as follows:
Our People
In relation to Workplace Health and Safety, an external independent WHS Auditor will
undertake an audit commencing on 17 May 2018. We have requested this audit to provide
a clear picture on progress over the last few years and to identify any remaining areas of
concern.
Personal leave was quite high in the previous quarter due to some long-term illness issues
with a small number of staff. We have also made progress in relation to the reduction of
long-term annual leave balances.
Our staff turnover rate remains relatively low compared to other Councils. In the March
quarter, staff turnover was negligible. We may see a pattern emerge in the future with staff
approaching retirement age choosing to retire early in the financial year (the September
quarter) with the remainder of the year maintaining our traditional low staff turnover rates.
