              The average spend on the day of the survey for visitor respondents was $272, with the
              majority of this being directed to accommodation costs and transport costs. The variation
              between different visitor characteristic is shown below. Statistical differences were found
              for accommodation, food and drink and spending on clothes for visitors from various
              residential addresses, age of visitor and type of visitor. Research conducted by TRA in 2017
              indicated that average spend per night for international visitors was $91 and domestic
              visitors was $197. Findings from the visitor survey conducted for this research indicates that
              the TRA estimates for domestic visitors might be conservative.
