PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 DECEMBER 2018
Figure 3 – Equipment provided in response to demand.
While a timeframe has been provided for some additional production equipment installation to year
2020 as shown in Figure 2 above, no definite timeframe has been provided for the installation of
the canning and bottling equipment located in the proposed flexible function space.
The applicant has provided the following in support of the request.
Given the large and underutilised production area available, the balance area not currently used
for production purposes is proposed to be used intermittently for functions and beer tasting/
educational events.
It is submitted that the proposed changes are minor in nature and are consistent with the scale,
nature and operational parameters of the original approval. In particular, we note that:
It is our understanding that the use of the under-utilised production area for tasting,
promotional, new release and other educational events was discussed during pre-lodgement
meetings with Council officers prior to the lodgement of MCU16/0133 and OPW16/0247;
The production space was designed for, and is able to be utilised as, a flexible space for both
production activities as well as entertainment uses as:
The application material described that site operations would include functions for up to 180
persons, and obviously this is only achievable through the use of the ‘Flexible Function /
Entertainment /Promotion / Industry Area’;
