PEKOL TRAFFIC & TRANSPORT

The Noosa Plan does not specify a design vehicle for this type and size of development. However, this
service area could accommodate a 12.5m heavy rigid vehicle (HRV). Therefore, it is proposed that the

maximum size of vehicle servicing the development would be a HRV.

Based on similar sized stores in Queensland, the operator estimates that the proposed supermarket would
generate an average of around 15 daily one-way service vehicle movements on weekdays with four
movements predicted on weekends. This equates to approximately two service vehicle movements per
hour on Wimmers Lane on weekdays. It is understood that the operator would make all deliveries to the

proposed supermarket by rigid body truck (ie a HRV or smaller).

To service the site, it is proposed that vehicles would arrive via Wimmers Lane from the west, turn right
into the site and reverse back into the loading area. To exit, vehicles would manoeuvre back on to

Wimmers Lane in forward gear and travel eastbound to Maple Street.

Swept paths showing a HRV making the turn movements from Wattle Street into Wimmers Lane (to the
west of the site) and from Wimmers Lane into Maple Street (to the east of the site) are provided in Figure
3.2 (and attached at Appendix F). These demonstrate that the existing geometry and alignment of

Wimmers Lane is adequate to accommodate this vehicle type.

The swept path of a HRV accessing and egressing the subject development is presented in Figure 3.3 and
is also attached (at Appendix F) to this report. As demonstrated, a HRV would be able to reverse into the
site and exit in forward gear. A forward lift refuse collection vehicle (RCV) would be able to undertake the

same manoeuvre to access the bin store, which is located in the north-east corner of the site.
