Records of complaints and responses will be retained for Council review if requested. 14. Review and Compliance The OMP will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains current and effective. Any significant amendments will be provided to Council if requested as part of ongoing compliance monitoring. 15. Legislative Basis for House Rules Sections 266–268, 275, and 276 of the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 outline requirements for house rules within rooming accommodation. House rules are made about the use, enjoyment, control, or management of the accommodation and form part of the resident’s agreement. A copy of the house rules must be provided to residents when the agreement is signed, and a full list must be displayed in a common area where residents are likely to see it (e.g. on a noticeboard). If a resident breaches a house rule, they are also in breach of their rooming accommodation agreement. There are two types of house rules: 1. Prescribed rules – these apply to all rooming accommodation in Queensland. 2. Rules made by the provider – these are additional rules specific to the premises. ©Town Planning Alliance Pty Ltd | 2025 4
