Council considered the following estimated project costs at its meeting in December 2015.




There are no significant added costs in making the decision to prepare the new planning scheme
under the Planning Act. Also there are no time delays anticipated in the scheme preparation
process. There are additional tasks to be completed in conjunction with the Department but these
will be carried out in parallel with ongoing scheme preparation work.

There is some risk in moving to make the new planning scheme under the Planning Act given
there has been only limited experience with the new processes for a state interest review. Being
a pioneer of a new system may result in unforeseen delays as the system is being learned.

Consultation

External Consultation - Community & Stakeholder

The Department of Infrastructure Local Government and Planning was consulted about Council
deciding to prepare the new planning scheme under the Planning Act 2016.

Internal Consultation

The Chief Executive Officer, Director of Environment & Sustainable Development and the
Development Assessment Manager were consulted about this report.
