Part of the study site included a small parcel of land in the north-east that was separated from the
remainder by Walter Hay Drive. In addition to the vegetation clearing, this area also appears to have
been prepared for planting with large planting mounds running in an east-west direction still apparent
during the survey described in this report.

The vegetation in this small parcel in the north-east was slightly more disturbed than the rest of the
site due to the edge effect of clearing and/or road construction on all sides. The composition of the
regenerating native vegetation was similar to the rest of the site with the main tree species including
Syncarpia glomulifera susbp. glomulifera, Corymbia intermedia, Melaleuca quinquenervia and
Eucalyptus resinifera. Less common tree species included E. grandis and E. microcorys (tallowwood).
Some areas were dominated by dense regrowth of Allocasuarina littoralis (coast she-oak), reflecting
a high level of disturbance.

A list of the species recorded within the site is provided in Appendix D1 (Plant Lists – Site).

3.7 Description of Area within 100m Buffer
Areas within the 100 m buffer included:

    •    Lot 147 NPW889;
    • Lot 5 SP222982; and
    • Lot 3 SP182845.

Lot 147 NPW889

A small area of remnant vegetation to the north of the subject area (Lot 3) and south of Eenie Creek
Road was located within the Noosa National Park (Lot 147 NPW889). This remnant vegetation was
mapped as RE 12.9-10.1 (Tall open forest. Canopy species include Eucalyptus resinifera, E. grandis, E.
robusta, Corymbia intermedia +/- E. microcorys, Melaleuca quinquenervia, Syncarpia glomulifera
subsp. glomulifera and Lophostemon confertus. Occurs on Cainozoic and Mesozoic sediments.).

Common canopy species included Syncarpia glomulifera subsp. glomulifera, Eucalyptus resinifera and
Corymbia intermedia. Eucalyptus microcorys (tallowwood) and E. grandis were less frequent.

Other species recorded in this area are provided in Appendix D2 (Plants Lists – Buffer Area).

Lot 5 SP222982

Lot 5 SP222982 predominantly supported vegetation mapped as a mix of non-remnant and RE 12.3.5
(Appendix C).

The non-remnant vegetation in this area was similar in composition and structure to the vegetation in
Lot 3 (the site), comprising Eucalyptus resinifera, Corymbia intermedia, Syncarpia glomulifera subsp.
glomulifera and less commonly E. grandis. Areas with Lot 5 mapped as RE 12.3.5 were characterised
by Melaleuca quinquenervia dominating the canopy and an understorey featuring ferns and sedges.

Other species in Lot 5 are listed in Appendix D2 (Plants Lists – Buffer Area).

Lot 3 SP182845

The vegetation south of the subject area, in Lot 1 SP182845, was mapped as a mix of non-remnant
and RE 12.3.5. The field inspection found the vegetation to be similar to that observed Lot 5, described
above. Species recorded in this area are provided in Appendix D2 (Plants Lists – Buffer Area).
