2. Environment Organisation Alliance Grant Recommendations
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The report outlines submissions received for Environment Grants – Round 17 specifically with
respect to single year Environment Project Grants and multi-year Environment Organisation
Alliance Grants. In total the 21 requests total $474,562 of an available funding pool of $118,200.
The report recommends the grant proposals for funding.
It is recommended that the Environment Organisation Alliance Grants are awarded for one year
only. This will allow reconsideration of all grants proposals for future years, when the entire funding
pool is available for Environment, Projects, Environment Organisation Alliances and Multi Year
Environmental Collaborative Grants for FY23/24 and onwards.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Environmental Services Manager (Acting) to the Planning &
Environment Committee Meeting dated 7 June 2022 and
A. Approve the Environment Project Grants as outlined in Attachment 1 to this report;
B. Approve the Environment Organisation Alliance Grants as outlined in Attachment 2 to this
report, noting that the Environment Organisation Alliance Grants will be awarded for a one-
year period to allow reconsideration for future years when the entire funding pool for
Environment Grants is available in FY23/24.
REPORT
The Environment Project and Environment Organisation Alliance Grants were included in Round
17 of the Community, Environment and Climate Change Grants. The grants are included under
the Environment Grant Policy to assist in the implementation of the Environment Strategy 2019. A
Guidelines document, available on Council’s website, further assists applicants in preparation of
their applications.
There are 3 types of Environment Grants:
Environment Project Grants - for projects, programs or events that align with Council’s key
environment strategies and plans and have a positive impact on the Noosa environment. They will
typically be completed within 12 months of commencement. They are typically called each year
in February and August
Environment Organisation Alliance Grants - provide organisational support to community groups
that are primarily focused on environment activities. They were last called in February 2019 and
we are at turnover of funding cycle
Multi-year Environment Collaborative (MEC) Grants - support longer-term, larger-scale strategic
initiatives that align with the Environment Strategy and have a significant positive impact on the
Noosa Environment.
The purpose of this report is to present recommendations with respect to Environment Project
Grants and Environmental Organisation Alliance Grants only.
