3.6 Overland Flow from Dam
It is anticipated that there will be a requirement for an area above and below the dam to allow for a
swale/channel to convey the overland flows in larger rainfall events. Preliminary calculations show that
these swales would be in the vicinity of 4.5m to 6.0m wide for above and below respectively at a depth
of approximately 350mm.
The Palliative Care Building is currently located within this overland flow path so it is intended that the
existing channel will be required to be diverted away from the building.
3.7 DRNME Response -Taking or Interfering with Water
The conditions received from DRNME state that the stormwater connections do have the potential to
trigger the requirement for a water licence to be obtained.
Since it is expected that the connection works are minor in nature, they may be able to be undertaken
using the Riverine Protection Permit Exemption Requirements.
This will confirmed during the detailed design stage when the layout and quantity of earthworks/clearing
is further resolved.
