Construction Environmental Management Plan
4.5 Element 5: Storage and Handling of Hazardous Materials
Rationale
Works may require the use or handling of dangerous or hazardous materials such as fuels, oils and hydraulic fluids (e.g. during on-site refuelling
of machinery). While these are not expected to be stored on-site in large quantities, management of the site is required in order to avoid potential
adverse impacts to human health and the receiving environment as a result of inappropriate storage and handling of hazardous materials.
The spill response procedure to be followed for the project is described in Section 3.5.3 above.
Objective/Target
Compliance with the EP Act and AS1940-2004: The storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids.
To effectively manage the safe storage and handling of hazardous materials within the construction site.
Performance Indicators
No adverse impacts to human health or the receiving environment associated with the storage or handling of hazardous materials on site.
