8.0 SITE WALKOVER – FIELD SURVEY RESULTS
8.1 Vegetation and Habitat
The proposed development site consists of mature regrowth vegetation with the canopy dominated by a
number of Eucalyptus, Melaleuca species and Allocasuarina generally 10 m high. The mid story is
dominated by rainforest regrowth species and heath land shrubs. The ground cover varies from areas
dominated by Blady grass (Imperata cylindrical) and Rainforest grass (Oplismenus aemulus)
Table 3 below summarises the vegetation across the Site in general accordance with Nelder et al. (2012).

The micro habitats within the Site vary from dense Allocasuarina dominated areas with little to no understory
to Melaleuca quinquenervia dominated areas with the understory dominated by Gahnia and sedge species.
Regrowth vegetation across the Site is considered non remnant. Other areas are dominated by regrowth
eucalyptus species (Eucalyptus resinifera, Syncarpia glomulifera) to 10 m.
Vegetation within the Site is a composite of species associated with:
RE 12.9-10.1 (Eucalyptus resinifera, E. grandis, E. robusta, Corymbia intermedia on sedimentary rocks.
(Of Concern)) in the northern portion of the Site
RE 12.3.5 (Melaleuca quinquenervia, Casuarina glauca +/- Eucalyptus tereticornis) in the southern
portion of the Site. (Least Concern)
