system and as represented on Sustain Map 4a. Current initiatives to protect koala habitat is
an example of important natural values being put at risk.

LAND AT COOROY OWNED BY CSR BUILDING PRODUCTS LIMITED (CSR)
Council received correspondence from CSR regarding land the company owns at Lake
Macdonald Drive, Cooroy. The land has previously been used for extraction of clay under
current mining leases but with closure of the local brickworks CSR is now seeking to develop
the land for some 180 residential allotments. However the site is situated outside the Urban
Footprint of the SEQ Regional Plan. CSR has consequently requested Council to support a
change of the Urban Footprint under ShapingSEQ.

Council has concluded not to support any changes to the Urban Footprint under the new
ShapingSEQ for reason that there is no need demonstrated currently for additional urban
land to be allocated to Cooroy, or any other part of Noosa Shire. Council has previously
outlined in this submission that it considers sufficient capacity exists in the current Noosa
Plan to accommodate the projected demand for dwellings until 2041. The New Noosa Plan
will likely identify additional dwelling opportunities in central locations of the ‘infill’ area of
              Noosa Shire.

              TRAILS
Sustain Map 4b — Regional Landscape Values includes provision to highlight trails. There are
many well regarded trails existing in the northern sub-region. Acknowledgement of these
              may assist with their promotion.

              FISH HABITAT RESERVES
Sustain Map 4c — Natural Economic Resource Areas does not include the Fish Habitat Areas
covering more than 6,000ha of the Noosa River system.

                                                                                                Page 5
