PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 FEBRUARY 2017
Submission in response to ShapingSEQ
Generally ShapingSEQ provides a suitable framework in support of continued planning and
development for Noosa Shire. All the main strategies are relevant to progressing this region. It is
still appropriate for Noosa Council to make a submission to the Queensland Government about
ShapingSEQ.
A draft submission is attached to this report and addresses the following issues-
General support to ShapingSEQ;
Concern about the potential reductions to the inter-urban break between Sunshine Coast
and Moreton Bay regions;
A more appropriate assessment of the split of future dwelling numbers in ‘infill’ and
‘greenfield’ locations in Noosa Shire;
Requesting clarification of the employment projections relative to the population
projections;
The absence of any areas designated Strategic Environmental Areas;
Omission of Fish Habitat Reserves in the Noosa River;
The submission from CSR Building Products Limited about their landholding at Lake
Macdonald Drive, Cooroy;
The submission from Halcyon about a proposed retirement village on land in Emu
Mountain Road, Peregian Beach; and
Acknowledging existing trails in the northern sub-region.

visited Noosa Shire on 30 November 2016. During the community consultation for the Discussion
Paper for the New Noosa Plan, people were advised of the separate consultation opportunity
with the draft ShapingSEQ where they raised issues of a regional nature or suggestions for the
further development of land outside the urban footprint.
Internal Consultation
Internal consultation was undertaken with Economic Development and Planning & Environment
