GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 FEBRUARY 2021

2. Go Noosa peak period traffic management plan – Easter 2021

The proposed Go Noosa Easter 2021 is a continuation of the Go Noosa peak period traffic
management initiatives that is carried out during the peak holiday periods of Christmas and Easter
since 2018 including;
 Free buses
 Park & Ride
 Variable Message Signs
 Traffic Control
 Paid Parking –- Noosa Heads Lions Park
 Wayfinding
 Drop & Go car parks
 Parallel parking changes in Hastings Street
 Marketing.

2.1 Free Buses

The following existing TransLink bus services are recommended for inclusion in Go Noosa Easter
peak period traffic management plan from 2 – 18 April:
 Route 626 – Tewantin to Sunrise Beach via Noosa Heads
 Route 627 – Tewantin to Sunshine Beach via Noosa Heads
 Route 628 – Noosa Parklands to Noosa Junction, via Noosa Civic
 Route 629 – Tewantin to Noosa Junction via Noosa Civic
 Route 632 – Noosa to Cooran via Cooroy and Pomona.
Due to TransLink ticketing system, the existing 620 bus service between Peregian Beach and
Noosa Heads is unable to accommodate free travel on these services. In order to offer a free
service to residents and visitors between Peregian Beach and Noosa Heads, the following
additional bus service is recommended:
 064 – Peregian Beach to Noosa Heads shuttle bus from 8am to 6pm
Council is aware that this does cause some confusion, however we aim to mitigate this with
improved signage at bus stops. This item is regularly raised with TransLink and Council is seeking
an improvement on this arrangement.
 065 Go Noosa Loop Bus
The popular 065 Go Noosa Loop bus servicing Hastings Street, Noosa Drive, Weyba Road and
Noosa Parade is recommended with services every 15 minutes from 7am-7pm and every 30
minutes from 7pm-11pm.
The TransLink bus services 620, 631, and 630 travel outside of the Noosa Shire and are unable to
be included in the free services.

2.2 Park & Ride

To encourage people to park outside of the congested tourist areas, Council promotes the following
dedicated Park and Ride locations:
 Noosa AFL grounds (approx. 400 car parks)
 The J (approx. 100 car parks)
 Noosa Junction Transit Centre (approx. 50 car parks are converted to 6P)
 Hide & Ride where people are also encouraged to park anywhere along the free bus routes
     and ferry route.
