GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 FEBRUARY 2021

The Park & Ride locations are promoted through:
 Go Noosa directional signage.
 Marketing material including posters and factsheets
 Variable Message Signs.

2.3 Variable Message Signs
In addition to providing information on car parking availability, the Variable Message Signs (VMS)
promote alternate travel options including free buses, park & ride, bicycles and the ferry.

It is proposed to install high resolution video variable message signs at the following locations:
 Walter Hay Drive near Eenie Creek bridge
 Eenie Creek Road near the Noosa Civic
 David Low Way near Peregian Digital Hub
 Cooroy-Noosa road near Butler Street roundabout, Tewantin
 Sunshine Beach Road, Noosa Junction.

2.4 Traffic Control
It is proposed to utilise traffic control between 2 - 18 April 2021. The use and number of traffic
controllers will be based on anticipated demand and weather dependent.

The purpose of the traffic control is to:
 give priority to buses and pedestrians
 keep traffic moving so buses are not sitting in queues
 improve accessibility to the Noosa Heads area
 minimise traffic disruptions in the Noosa Heads area.

Use of traffic control is supported by:
 Hastings Street Association
 Lions Club who operate the paid parking
 Bus operators
 Council’s consulting traffic engineer.

It is acknowledged that it would be preferable from a visitor experience perspective for the traffic
controllers to be dressed in more relaxed attire, however, in order to meet required safety
standards, traffic controllers are required to wear high visibility long sleeve shirts and pants. Where
possible effort is made such as the wearing of broad brimmed tropical hats, flower leis and the
handing out Easter eggs. The traffic controllers also undergo a specific Go Noosa training program
to raise awareness and establish customer service standards.

2.5 Paid Parking - Noosa Heads Lions Park
As adopted at the Ordinary Meeting on 17 September 2020, the Noosa Heads Lions Park will be
used as a paid car park from 2 - 18 April 2021, weather dependent.

The Tewantin-Noosa Lions Club will operate the car park from 8:30am to 5.00pm daily. Vehicles
are charged a flat rate of $20 (incl. GST) per day or part thereof. The Tewantin-Noosa Lions Club
receive 50% of the parking fees with the remaining revenue coming to Council. Revenue to Council
goes towards:
 rectifying any damage/impact from parking on the reserve
 the hire of temporary fencing to protect children at the playground & BBQ area
