parking signage at Lions Park
the printing of tickets; and
the use of traffic control to assist in the movement of pedestrians from Lions Park.
In addition, 50% of Council’s share will be held in reserve and allocated to recreational
improvements in the Noosa Heads Lions Park.
2.6 Wayfinding
To further assist pedestrians and bus passengers, temporary wayfinding signage will be installed
in and around Noosa Heads and Noosa Junction as well as at bus stops.
It is also proposed to have a bus driver passenger assistant at the Noosa Heads Bus Interchange
to assist passengers with wayfinding on week-ends and public holidays.
2.7 Drop & Go Car Parks
During Go Noosa Christmas 2020/21, two minute Drop & Go car parks were trialled on Noosa
Drive and Noosa Parade in addition to the existing drop & go car parking at the Hastings Street
Bus Interchange. The purpose of the Drop & Go car parks is to allow people to unload family and
beach gear within walking distance to the precinct without getting caught up in congestion.
Data on the use of the Drop & Go zones is currently being evaluated, however, early indications
suggest that the Drop & Go car parks were not used effectively. This may be due to a number of
factors including;
Changes not visible enough resulting in drivers unknowingly parking in the drop off zones
Drivers being unfamiliar with the changed conditions
Need for increased enforcement
Insufficient promotion of the drop and go areas.
Further refinements are required to ensure the effective use of the Drop & Go car parks and this
will be further trialled and tested over Easter including the possibility of moving the location of the
Drop & Go car parks to alternative sites in consultation with key stakeholders.
2.8 Parallel parking – Hastings Street & Noosa Parade
In order to allow traffic to flow more freely to the Woods car parking areas it is proposed to
temporarily convert eight parallel car parking bays on the southern side of Hastings Street to
increase footpath space, temporary scooter parking and loading bays.
2.9 Marketing and Evaluation
Go Noosa Easter aims to continue to build public awareness of the Go Noosa brand.
The objectives of the Go Noosa - Easter marketing plan are to:
Raise awareness of alternative transport options to driving, such as Park & Ride, Free Buses,
walking and cycling and the Noosa Ferry.
Offer a relaxed and stress free alternative to driving a car into the Hastings street precinct.
It is proposed to employ a number of different marketing methods including;
Posters & Factsheets
Energex pole banners
Signage at bus stops
