Swept paths for an appropriate vehicle should be checked to confirm that sufficient swept width is available for the turning movements into and from Pearsons Road. Provide drawing of vehicle swept paths. Turn paths have been checked and provided in road functional drawing RF04. 2. Provide detail for footpath and power pole adjacent to the bus stop. Proposed bus stop is clear of power pole and existing underground telecom pit. Power poles and telecom pit are now shown on drawing. 3. Why is there a reduction in shoulder width as a vehicle turns left from Pearsons Road? Maintain shoulder width through the intersection. Refer attached drawing RFO2 for updated layouts 4, The new driveway needs to conform to the requirements of Austroads Part 4, Clause 7.2.3 ‘Rural Property Access’. Provide detail. Driveway access has been removed due to new estate access to be provided by others off Blue Wren Place. 5. Rural bus shelter shown is to conform to the requirements of TransLink, refer to the Public Transport Infrastructure Manual. Provide detail. The bus shelter has been specified as Noosa shire council Rural bus shelter in accordance with condition 44 of existing DA approval No. 132007.2398.02 6. Why is the left turn treatment into Pearsons Road currently is shown as a BAL? Page 13 of the Traffic Impact Assessment indicates that an AUL(S) is warranted for the future design traffic. Provide justification for the proposed change. calibreconsulting.co

10. 20f3 Refer drawing RFO2 for updated left hand turn treatment. Left hand turn onto Pearsons road has been updated to AUL(S) with a diverge length of 35.0m including a 20.0m taper in accordance with Clause 8.2.2 Austroads Part 4A (Table 8.2) Page 13 of the Traffic Impact Assessment indicates that a CHR is warranted for the future design traffic. Additionally the right turn treatment is to comply with Figure 13.60 of RPDM Chapter 13 as per DTMR conditions, superseded by RPDM 2" Edition which refers to Austroads Part 4A, Clause 7.5.3 for a CHR. A CHR turn lane width is fully developed before the taper, widen pedestrian refuge to suit. The storage indicated on the drawings is 65m, why has the value of 60m in report not been used? Allow for adequate diverge/deceleration length prior to the storage length. The through lane Should include appropriate radii at the start/end of the transitions. Redesign the CHR to be compliant with Austroads Part 4A Clause 7.5.3. If you are seeking a relaxation of this condition, please provide justification and clearly identify site constraints that make provision of the warranted treatment difficult. Channelised Right Hand Turn into Pearsons Road from Elm Street has been amended to be in accordance with Austroads Part 4A Clause 7.5.3 for a CHR turn. The Storage length has also been updated to 60.0m in accordance with the Traffic Impact Assessment report. Diverge/deceleration length has been amended. Lighting needs to be provided for any raised median in accordance with RPDM 2" Edition, Volume 6. Clause 7.1.1. Where intersection channelisation is in the form of raised median, lighting must be provided in accordance with AS/NZS 1158. Whilst the pedestrian refuge islands are not specific intersection channelization, these islands do stop a vehicle from encroaching onto the painted median. Light pedestrian refuge in accordance with vehicular and pedestrian requirements as per RPDM 2" Edition Vol. 6 and AS/ANZ 1158. Lighting has been shown on the drawings however has been noted that design is to be by the electrical consultant. Pedestrian refuge island note terminology change from “refuse” to “refuge”. Correction made on drawing RFO2 Ensure pedestrian refuge has TGSI for vision impaired pedestrians, refer Std. Dwg 1446 and 1447. TGSI has been included at refuge island and footpath on eastern side of Elm Street. Lamonts Road Intersection: Swept paths for an appropriate vehicle should be checked to confirm that sufficient swept width is available for the turning movements into and from Lamonts Road. Provide drawing of vehicle swept paths. Turn paths have been checked and provided in road functional drawing RFO3. Page 15 of the Traffic Impact Assessment indicates that a CHR is warranted for the future design traffic. Additionally the right turn treatment is to comply with Figure 13.60 of RPDM Chapter 13 as per DTMR conditions, superseded by RPDM 2” Edition which refers to Austroads Part 4A, Clause 7.5.3 for a CHR. Layout provided complies with short treatment only. If you are seeking a relaxation of this condition, please provide justification and clearly identify site constraints that make provision of the warranted treatment difficult. CHR at Lamonts Road and Elm street intersection has been amended in accordance with Austroads Part 4A Clause 7.5.3. A request is made to shift the lateral movement to the eastern side of Elm street to avoid conflict with the existing power poles on the western side. The geometry of the two through lanes are not sound. There is a R210 (compound curve) on the inside of the curve at the end of the CHR(S). This is not acceptable in a high speed zone. Has the option of a single curve been investigated for the inside through lane? TMR recommends the provision of a single curve northbound. A compound curve (small followed by a larger radius) may be used southbound. Resolve geometry and provide more geometric detail. Geometry has been amended to follow a smoother path whilst also conforming to existing conditions. Minimum Radii has been used and compound curves have been avoided with the exception of the Southbound lane of Elm street.
Page 3
30f3 There are various kinks in lanes and narrowing of the lane width. These errors in geometry and cross section need to be resolved. Geometry has been corrected There is currently a high-entry angle for left turner from Lamonts Road. As per Austroads Part 41, Clause 6.2.3 change the alignment of Lamonts Road as it approaches Cooroy Connection Road to ensure the observation angle is between 700 - 900. The centreline of Lamonts road has been shifted north to bring the curve further back from Elm street. This gives extra length for the design vehicle to turn perpendicular with Elm street at the stop line. Why is there a reduction in shoulder width as a vehicle turns left from Lamonts Road? Maintain shoulder width through the intersection. Shoulder width has been maintained for the entire length. Provide more detail for the power pole behind guardrail. Is there adequate room behind guardrail to allow for the deflection of guardrail in the event of an accident? It is likely to be more cost effective to remove the gap between the two sections of guardrail (compared to providing two additional end treatments). The geometry of the CHR turn in to Lamonts road has been modified such that the northbound lane is now a straight through and the lateral movement has been shifted to the turn and southbound lanes. Should this be found to be acceptable it will remove any conflicts with the existing power poles on the western side of Elm Street. Refer drawing RF01. Line marking is incorrect across Lamonts Road. Refer drawing RFO1 for amended linemarking. How has storage length been determined for right turn into Lamonts Road? Storage length for CHR into Lamonts road has been designed as 15m which allows for one 12.5m MRV design vehicle. Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned. Yours sincerely Calibre Consulting Rob Blake Manager - Urban Development ATTACHMENTS 4.
