Refer drawing RFO2 for updated left hand turn treatment. Left hand turn onto Pearsons road has been
updated to AUL(S) with a diverge length of 35.0m including a 20.0m taper in accordance with Clause 8.2.2
Austroads Part 4A (Table 8.2)

Page 13 of the Traffic Impact Assessment indicates that a CHR is warranted for the future design
traffic. Additionally the right turn treatment is to comply with Figure 13.60 of RPDM Chapter 13 as
per DTMR conditions, superseded by RPDM 2" Edition which refers to Austroads Part 4A, Clause
7.5.3 for a CHR. A CHR turn lane width is fully developed before the taper, widen pedestrian refuge
to suit. The storage indicated on the drawings is 65m, why has the value of 60m in report not been
used? Allow for adequate diverge/deceleration length prior to the storage length. The through lane
Should include appropriate radii at the start/end of the transitions. Redesign the CHR to be
compliant with Austroads Part 4A Clause 7.5.3. If you are seeking a relaxation of this condition,
please provide justification and clearly identify site constraints that make provision of the
warranted treatment difficult.

Channelised Right Hand Turn into Pearsons Road from Elm Street has been amended to be in
accordance with Austroads Part 4A Clause 7.5.3 for a CHR turn. The Storage length has also been
updated to 60.0m in accordance with the Traffic Impact Assessment report. Diverge/deceleration length
has been amended.

Lighting needs to be provided for any raised median in accordance with RPDM 2" Edition, Volume
6. Clause 7.1.1. Where intersection channelisation is in the form of raised median, lighting must be
provided in accordance with AS/NZS 1158. Whilst the pedestrian refuge islands are not specific
intersection channelization, these islands do stop a vehicle from encroaching onto the painted
median. Light pedestrian refuge in accordance with vehicular and pedestrian requirements as per
RPDM 2" Edition Vol. 6 and AS/ANZ 1158.

Lighting has been shown on the drawings however has been noted that design is to be by the electrical
consultant.

Pedestrian refuge island note terminology change from “refuse” to “refuge”.
Correction made on drawing RFO2
Ensure pedestrian refuge has TGSI for vision impaired pedestrians, refer Std. Dwg 1446 and 1447.

TGSI has been included at refuge island and footpath on eastern side of Elm Street.

Lamonts Road Intersection:

Swept paths for an appropriate vehicle should be checked to confirm that sufficient swept width is
available for the turning movements into and from Lamonts Road.

Provide drawing of vehicle swept paths.

Turn paths have been checked and provided in road functional drawing RFO3.

Page 15 of the Traffic Impact Assessment indicates that a CHR is warranted for the future design
traffic. Additionally the right turn treatment is to comply with Figure 13.60 of RPDM Chapter 13 as
per DTMR conditions, superseded by RPDM 2” Edition which refers to Austroads Part 4A, Clause
7.5.3 for a CHR. Layout provided complies with short treatment only. If you are seeking a relaxation
of this condition, please provide justification and clearly identify site constraints that make
provision of the warranted treatment difficult.

CHR at Lamonts Road and Elm street intersection has been amended in accordance with Austroads Part
4A Clause 7.5.3.

A request is made to shift the lateral movement to the eastern side of Elm street to avoid conflict with the
existing power poles on the western side.

The geometry of the two through lanes are not sound. There is a R210 (compound curve) on the
inside of the curve at the end of the CHR(S). This is not acceptable in a high speed zone. Has the
option of a single curve been investigated for the inside through lane? TMR recommends the
provision of a single curve northbound. A compound curve (small followed by a larger radius) may
be used southbound. Resolve geometry and provide more geometric detail.

Geometry has been amended to follow a smoother path whilst also conforming to existing conditions.
Minimum Radii has been used and compound curves have been avoided with the exception of the
Southbound lane of Elm street.
