10 e hollows, fissures or cracks; e significant forage resources for common fauna (eg. banksia spp.); and e significant forage resources for koala and glossy black-cockatoo (eg. E.tereticornis and A. littoralis). Trees considered important for koalas in areas to be cleared (or adjacent to areas to be cleared) include: e &,tereticornis, E.robusta, C.intermedia, L.confertus, M.quenquinervia; and are e Individuals that exhibit suitable form and health. Trees considered important for glossy black-cockatoos in areas to be cleared (or adjacent to areas to be cleared) include: e All large trees (eg. E.tereticornis, E.robusta, C.intemedia) that may provide nesting resources; and e A.littoralis that exhibit suitable form and health; and e A,littoralis that show signs of foraging activity. Habitat trees that potentially harbour fauna (eg. trees with hollows) will be identified and demarcated by the wildlife ecologist. Clearing will proceed in a staged approach with the initial removal of smaller non-habitat trees followed by the supervised (wildlife ecologist or spottercatcher®) removal of larger habitat trees. Prior to any clearing activities the wildlife ecologist will provide guidance/instructions to the site manager and/or clearing personnel regarding the clearance procedures. This will ensure that potential impacts to fauna are reduced, while a high level of personnel safety during the clearing operations will be maintained. Prior to clearing works the area proposed for daily clearing will be surveyed to identify koalas in the area. No clearing will occur in the immediate vicinity of the koala. Clearing of other non-habitat vegetation within the development area (referred to as building envelopes in Figure 5) will be undertaken in accordance with the “vegetation clearing and retention strategy” (as detailed in the Environmental Management Plan). 3.4.2 Habitat Tree Removal and Pruning The following protocol is recommended for the removal of identified habitat (hollow-bearing) trees: 5 Spottercatcher qualifications & experience: i) at least 2 years relevant experience; and ii) holding an appropriate DP! animal ethics permit; and iii) holding the appropriate EPA rehabilitation permit.
